can someone please answer this why when I ask for help from caregivers to care for my mom I FEEL GUILTY I feel I am suppose to be able to do all but after doing this for ten years I just cannot do it and feel I use to do better job before and momis skilled nursing care cannot stand or walk and  when she tells me she can walk I get so frustrated guess because I no she cnt and cnnot do anything about  it then other times feel like screaming so have to leave her room

Hi Sundra Ann,

 

I remember the days when my father was changing from a strong, active man to OLD!!! It seemed to happen overnight but, in reality, he had been fighting cancer for over 10 years before anyone realized he was not well. It is so painful to watch the decline and being bed-bound is the worst!

 

Is your mother home or in a facility at this point? I took care of my father for barely a month when he was bed-bound prior to his passing. I don't think I could have done it for any longer...

 

The thing is that it seems like we always feel guilty for what we do but never for what we don't do. So, what does that say? At least you are stepping up to the plate and caring for your mom. You should never feel guilty for that! You are a godsend to your mom!
