There's lessons in it for all of us, regardless of the illness we face with our loved ones. I know how devastating this disease can be as my husband's father died of it and my husband has spent many years afraid that he too may eventually have it as well. Instead, he has emphysema...still devastating...still slowly dying....But still we are blessed to have each other.
His one big wish is to remain at home; and as long as the Good Lord gives me strength to put one foot in front of the other, it will be so.
Regardless of our loved one's state..the love is unconditional and a two way street.
The one thing I do know is that if our roles were reversed, he would be doing the same things I'm doing....unconditional love..in sickness and in health.
We're blessed with love and will always treasure it.
