I think it goes with the old cliche....Easier said than Done.
Sometimes, we know what we should be doing but it isn't as easy as it seems. With caregiving it is like being a tightrope walker. A little too much weight on one side, or a wobbly step can send us falling to the ground.
By making an honest effort to practice what you preach, you will see some improvement and rewards in your life. No it won't be perfect, but it can be improved. I think we make a lot of excuses not to do it. I have stopped the excuses and honestly try. I don't always succeed but the results are better.
Robin, I think that cliche'can be used interchangeably. Sometimes we do preach what we practice. I think that is why sometimes people may disagree with our ways. At times it can be so easy to preach and not practice even though we know it is right. I also think it can reflect on us with those we love. Sue
Sometimes preaching is the practice of incorporating it... as I always say, it's easier to see it in someone else than ourselves.. just as it is easier to take care and nurture someone else other than ourselves...
