We have a wonderful 17 yr old daughter, who has some physical disabilities. I admire her greatly, and is a real inspiration! She is always smiling, even after 26 surgeries, but to tell the truth, I am wearing very thin. I love her so dearly, and I will do 'anything!' for her, except take away her independence, but I know that I am beginning tofeel overwhelmed.

It is probably because I am also have some physical problems. I have CFS. How I want to talk with others, and see how they are dealing with situations.

Warmly,

Deb

Hi (I missed your name, I am sorry)

I can relate to your stating that you are starting to wear thin. It is so emotionally and physically exhausting to take care of another person. I am a mother to newborn twins who both have congenital heart defects, and a two year old.

Your daughter is 17, what a wondeful age. She is so fortunate to have a mother who encourages her independence. ( I cannot spell today, I apologize). As I mentioned in a previous post, the importance of a caregiver "refueling" so vital. For you to be strong, you must first take care of yourself, and come back to take care of her. Do you have any one helping you?
