We had a beatiful day with Mom. My brother came up from S. Fla. He's a caretaker, too, for his "significant other," who has a whole laundry list of infirmities. He had a turn of caring for Mom. He's her baby and they have a special bond. I am blessed to witness how seeing him brings a special light to her eyes. He fears this will be his last year to spend holidays and occasions with her. I'm not so sure - given her strong inner spirit.
Anyway, we were talking about how that neither or us ever had the opportunity to be a parent. Our caretaker roles are what we do to fill the need to nurture and that it suits us and is an excellent way to honor our folks and the way we were raised.
My hats off to all of you. May the Lord smile on you today.
